Catch Me If You Can 5K Brought Community Fun and Support to Plant City

The Friends of the Plant City Police Department Foundation hosted its 1st Annual Catch Me If You Can 5K, and the inaugural event was a tremendous success, selling out all runner entries and bringing strong community energy to Plant City.
The race added a playful law enforcement twist to the traditional 5K format. Participants received a head start before Plant City police officers began their pursuit, creating a lighthearted challenge where runners and walkers tried to make it to the finish line before getting “caught.”
The inaugural event was led by Kat Kilton, wife of Plant City Mayor Nate Kilton, who generously gave her time, energy, and leadership to help bring the Foundation’s first 5K to life. As both a runner and a dedicated community supporter, Kat helped carry much of the behind-the-scenes work required to turn the idea into a successful, well-organized event.
The Foundation is grateful for community leaders like Kat, whose willingness to step in and serve helps make events like this possible. Her leadership helped create a memorable experience for participants, officers, volunteers, and supporters, and helped set a strong foundation for Catch Me If You Can to continue as an annual Plant City tradition.
More than a race, the Catch Me If You Can 5K gave the community another opportunity to connect with local officers in a positive, approachable setting. Events like this help strengthen the relationship between Plant City residents and the men and women who serve our community.
Participants enjoyed a family-friendly atmosphere, finisher medals, awards, and post-race donuts, adding to the spirit of fun and community connection.
Proceeds from the event supported the Friends of the Plant City Police Department Foundation and its mission to provide additional resources, support, and community engagement opportunities connected to the Plant City Police Department.
Now as as an annual event, Catch Me If You Can will continue giving Plant City a meaningful and memorable way to show support for local law enforcement while enjoying a morning of movement, laughter, and community pride.
We are already looking forward to next year’s race and another great day of community support!
